Why is it that people give longboarders a hard time when wearing a leash, but no one gives a hard time to the shortboarders wearing one at the same break??

I wear one depending on wave height.

I always wear a leash...lose a board at my break and it's in the channel and goooone....

because a longboard is a lot more dangerous than a shortboard, especially when propelled riderless by a wave..

To be honest Ive never seen anyone harrass longboarders for no leash, just beiong a wave hog or kook maybe

I usually wear a dog tag. It is a protection for myself as well as others. Bottom line is, no matter what the talent level, or size, what if I lose my board, and it strikes someone or their board, I do not want to feel responsible.

I dont use it as a crutch for water savy, so I do not feel "less of a man" for using it. got my own perogatives for whateva it is worth.

Leash or not, the only longboarders that attract negative vibes are the ones that paddle out and act like no one else is out. We've all seen those guys. I try to let a bunch pass by whenever I use my longboard. SS.
