FIN INNOVATION

Postby slap a dap » Wed Feb 09, 2005 10:22 pm

..........well as we all know, there has been a lot of discussion and ideas regarding fins and fin systems in recent years. Along with new and improved board designs we are starting to see the "tweeking" of fins getting their dues. We have a number of good systems out there that are offering a variety of fin design along with fin material.

............I have surfed since I was five years old, back in the 70's (DAMN!). I have seen my share of creativity over the years regarding boards and fins obviously. There was a time when all my boards had to have the FCS system. I guess I was product of the "engulfing of the market" by that system. Don't get me wrong FCS are good for what you get. They even have a new foiled fin and that seems to be the direction. a lot of companies are looking towards.

..........all this rambling has led me to this and I would like your feedback because I know a number of you regulars pay attention to this topic which does, most definately affect your surfing.

...........I have partnered up with my childhood friend and his brother and may decide to rep Oahu. They have a new innovative fin system that they have developed. It has taken some years to perfect but persistance prevails! We do not have a lot of template molds due to the high costs but we have basics (for short and longboards) as well as a foiled fin. My friends are based on Kauai and many surfers on that islands already use the system and love it! Even names like Barker and Irons are using them. Please go to http://www.edgefins.kauaistyle.com and take a peek. The site needs to be updated a bit but you can get the gist.
There has been this type of idea tried in the past but as I said before it has taken years to work out the kinks and now it is ready. As is the market, I think.

........what I would like to know is if this sounds interesting to you and if you would try it out for yourself? Any other feedback would be great (positive or negative) since some of ya know me. Thanks and Peace
