..........yo goro, was there this time last year and found good surf all around. It's gona be cold so better get a full one. Got my best seshes around Byron Bay and Newcastle. Didn't make it to Melbourne. There are surf spots a plenty brother! I aint jokin. Most of it really good beach break with sporadic point breaks around every corner. Take the time to explore and meet people. You'll make friends li dat! A good website to checkout is http://www.coastalwatch.com. It has cams of choke spots thru-out OZ.

Peace man and have a scooner of "toowies" for me

hey Goro....I came back from a family trip from Down Under 2 years ago....One thing I wish I had was one of several Australian aurf guide books that you can get from Borders/Amazon...Get all main surf spots with useful maps and directions..Periplus guides or those small wavefinder books are absolute must!!
When In Melbourne, you can drive 2 hours west on the Great Ocean Road towards Bells Beach/Curl Curl or go 1 hour South towards Morninton Pennisula.....My 10 or so cousins born and living in Melbourne (non-surfers) didnt even know any main beach spots!! The seafood is frickin' great in OZ, period!!!! If u get a chance, spend a couple days on Phillip island, get some mean spots as well....
In Sydney, by subway, 1 hour Noth or South will get you some famous waves in Narrabeen or Cronulla!!! Good luCk..

i'm from the gold coast area, if you had time go there it's pumpn I hear while I'm waiting out summer in hawaii
In syd there's a bunch of spots to hit on the north or south shore, just hire a car and drive out and where you see guys, PADDLE OUT!
have at least a tubey ready because you will freeze your ass off all the way till october-november. it aint like hawaii winters where going shirtless all winter fine.
In melb. hire a car and hit Torquay, there's a ton of spots down there, but a bit harder to find unless you know where your going, jus ask somone if you don't get a map.
after you do all that, FIND SOME AUSSIE SHILAS AND HAVE SOME FUN MAAATEEEE>
hahaha

Hey haha yep im an Aussie 'sheila'. :D There's heaps of places around the northern and southern coast in NSW. Definately check out Torquay, gold. Plenty of beachies and the points are good when the wind is right. Ask the locals, we won't bite...but maybe your into that hey?
