I recommend mike woo. although you have to hassel the guy to get the board within 3-4 months, he really does a great job on shortboards. price is about $330 ish for no frills. i can't give enough praise for these boards.

3 to 4 months !!! you gotta be kiddin me ?
3 to 4 weeks is more like it, i d be damnd to wait that long for a board to be built, but I never rode the guys boards, they might be magic.
I think 3 bills is a good price for a custom shortie.

:? yeah no shit! he told me it would be 2 weeks and it ended up taking almost 2 months, but a friend of mine ordered one more recently and it took even longer than that
are the boards worth it? i don't know about that...

Hansen is a master shaper w/solid credentials
as a carpenter, i watched him shape once and you can tell he's highly skilled
he said he used to do masonry and carpentry
but you can tell that he's also artistic and has a good eye
and takes his work seriously
he's precise; seems like a perfectionist
he's busy, like the others mentioned
experienced surfers can tell the difference in the way his boards perform
so his boards are worth the wait

I think Chuck Andrus is the only other one mentioned that would come close

I've been glassing boards here on Oahu for about 12 years and I've worked on lots of guys' shapes. As a former shaper myself, I look at the boards I work on with a critical eye. My votes for good shorties, based on shaping skill and riding experience (not necessarily in any particular order)

Jeff Bushman, particularly for North Shore small wave boards
    Jon Pyzel
    Wes Oshiro
    Glen Minami
    Kerry Tokoro
    Wade Tokoro
    Gordon Quigg

For North Shore guns, the list would change a little, but I feel these guys do the best new school cutting edge small wave boards and all have ample experience shaping for Hawaiian waves. I work for Pyzel, and sometimes Bushman. I have owned and/or ridden boards by every one of these guys. It should be noted that I've also glassed boards by most of the other shapers mentioned in this thread, but haven't ridded them, so I can't really comment.

Slap, here on the forum has a couple of Pyzels and seems to like em, or maybe it's just that he's mesmerized by the colors.

    BAMMBAMM!

Do you still glass for Bushman?
It'd be cool if you'd glassed my board...

Do you know Wally? Glasses for a few of the big dogs too..comes into my shop alla time. Super nice guy...(makes me want to buy a really good mask if I work with Resin though. :D )
