It happened after I paddled in, but it still bugs me. This woman paddled out while I was there..never really seen her before, and she hauled out 3 of her Roxy gals with her. Huge boards, skimpy bikinis, low on skill... The pack leader was loudly telling all her girls where to line-up, and so on.. and of course they all drifted into the middle of the channel. I was laughing a bit inside, but I caught a few more waves and finally went in. Apparently the pack finally wised up and moved as one towards the peak. Now this is the part that bugs me. As relayed to me by my friend..
She starts yelling for her friends to paddle...even when they're on the shoulder and someone was already in trim. And these jerks were just dropping in and falling, or stuffing someone already going. And these are really good waves too!!..
This is the kind of behavior I'm really getting sick of. This, "I'm a girl and I'm going" mentality.
There's a whole bunch of really cool women who surf my spot. They charge, they sit deep, and they don't burn people. They get choke waves, give out tons of stoke and get lots of stoke back.
I find myself wondering what I would have said? I'd like to think I'd be nice and ask them just what the hell they think they're doing, but that never seems to work. Defences already up. And I don't want to think I'd be yelling, 'cause that's just an asshole power play. But aren't they using their sex as a buffer against their actions? If it was some guy dropping in, he'd be getting sounded right out of there...and this whole thing is most troubling by the fact I'm giving it some thought. I can't believe I'm letting it bother me, but...I mean..what kind of jerk paddles out to a new spot and just starts burning people?
I'll be really glad when the wind kicks up again, 'cause all these Ken's and Barbies will flee back to their protected spots leaving it to the core folk...much nicer folks to surf with...

i tried something that may or may not have worked...
i paddled up to the girl after watching her blow it a few times and i asked her very nicely and with a smile if she needed some wax...pulled out my brand new spanking stick o wax and tried to hand it to her...she just glowered at me for a minute and then said no...i thought at the time it didn't work...but then i didn't see her burn people no more...and i never saw her out at the break again after that...might be just coincidences...

i surfed a secret Town break b4(hahahahahaha). it was 4ft and this girl was out w/ her "man". a set starts coming and she paddles right in front of me as i'm about to go over the wave and instead of duck diving, she throws her board on me , so the wave helps slam it on me. i freaked out. i called her a bitch as loud as i could, told her to get the fuck outta here and i then paddled over to her "man" and told him to take her in, after i punched him in the head. i never saw those 2 again.

A similar situation occurred at my homebreak a few weeks back. Girl got in the way a few times, created semoi-dangerous situation.
I just paddled up to her and her friend (who was the better surfer trying to help the girl to learn) and politely suggested that they paddle over to the smaller waves breaking into the channel, since "it was a better place to learn." They listened and went, end of problem.
This kind of problem, in my opinion, arises out of the rising number of people learning. It is NOT related to gender - I've encountered just as many MALE kooks as female.
As for your reaction, Maleko, I can totally understand being incredibly angry. It's easy to fly off the handle while surfing, especially when someone's board hits you. But resorting to violence over an accident I have to disagree with, respectfully.
You also gotta be careful - you never know who you might be surfing with one day.
JBG did something similar once out at Makaha - turns out that the guy he threatened was a judge, and that the judge ended up presiding over JBG's trial for ASSAULT in another case. Oops.
It's a small island, and it's only getting smaller with more surfers in the water.

My rant #1
Got a nice wave on the outside and got a turn or two then I was doing a top turn/cutback and some shoulder hopping dick was inside and just went even after I tried to call him off. I pulled off because I don't need damage to my board. When he paddeled back I told him what a good snake he is. His reply was born and raised I take any wave I like. I told him he's still a snake though. Never saw him after that. I really felt like pulling a JBG on him. Rant over Feel better.
I wish I was on my beater board or an epoxy.
