Mentawai Islands??

I was planing on taking a trip to the mentawais somtime this year. If any one has ever gone or knows alot about the island can you please give me some info on the spots , and times to go, how nasty is the reef there, whats a good boat to choose. i jsut want this to be the trip of my life!! Thanks for all your help.

waves : fast and powerful.
reef : everywhere shallow and sharp.
swells : spring thru fall
spots : too many to say but the 2 highlights are HT'S and Maccas.


went last year on The Bintang. was an excellent trrip.
Darryl Robinson and his kids got the place wired.
they've been working the ments for a few years, kinda pioneered the place or opened the doors to the surf industry with the OP boat trip and a few other contests.
felt totally at ease, safe and confident with the crew of our vessel.
and the vessel itself. they also have a boat called The Navistar that one of the sons usually catains. It smaller and can accomadate 6 to 8 passengers . Bintang can hold 10 to 15 passengers. I have a friend heading down there for the last 2 weeks of august and they have some spots open on the Bintang.

If anyone is serious about getting down there I can give you his contact info to jump on their charter.
