Ow my ear!

Postby bammbamm808 » Sat Mar 05, 2005 7:18 pm

Surfed Friday at a spot I frequent w/Slapper. Had a great session. It was pretty good. Caught one legitimate 6 footer and a bunch near that size. About 5 or 6 guys out. It was hollower than usual and I got a few little barrels and at the end, the best barrel I've ever had out there. I actually came out arms up and yelling, which I NEVER do. Caught one more to go in on, kooked out and got sucked over the falls on the side of my head. Fierce impact, loud ringing, loss of equilibrium...oh yeah, I've busted my eardrum! It's happened before, so I was just glad I was at the end of my session, and I'd still be able to work through my recovery. A week or two, and I should be good to go.

Ironic, I get a new stick Monday and can 't use it for a few days....sigh.

The trick has been keeping the wife/boss on the left side where I can't hear. They don't seem to be catching on yet. The kids are so loud, it doesn't matter what side they're on, can still hear em.

Woo hoo. Ear is better and I just sanded my new 6-8 today. First board I've sanded myself. I've laminated heaps (27,000+), but NEVER sanded one myself. I've done a million ding reparis, including putting on many sets of fins and sanding the repair, so it wasn't too bad. I thought it would be harder, but it came out pretty good for a first effort. Little scratchy here and there, minimal weave, good geometry. I'm stoked, now I can do my own boards all the way through. Now if the waves would clean up....
