Apparently evryone involved and at the scene thought it was a big hoot. What do you guys think after you read the story and saw the vid/pics?

My first thought is "where were the regulators that keep the dropins in check?" They probably weren't pleased -- it looked dangerous, the raft came down on the guy in the barrell's head. I wonder if he would have made it if they hadn't crumbled the lip like that? Doesn't look like it.

Also, seems kind of weird to be playing like that with so many people n the water at such a dangerous place, especially since there was a recent fatality there.

Then again, all the guys in the raft grew up there and are pipe experts, so you would think they knew what they were doing.

I think its totally halarious, obviously it was fun if they took more than one wave. Besides whats wrong with just goofing off, even if it is pipe. Not every wave has to be a contest.

the funny thing is when these guys travel somewhere with no surf scene they are a bunch of nobodies. shit even i don't know who these tools are. never met them, never seen them on video, nor the mags. why buy when i can surf the same waves???

mark healey is a relatively famous (for surfing) pipe charger.

kalani chapman is another relatively famous pipe charger, and I think he is the son of the legendary Owl Chapman, NS shaper and surfer.

not that it matters. i actually feel kind of dumb for knowing any of that, but it's the only sport i follow.

kalani chapman- i remember the kid in the mid to late 90's, total asshole in the water. at 14 years old, he called me a name. i turned around and politely asked him if he was speaking to me, and of course he shrunk like the kid he was.

today? yeah, owl chapmans son, step brother of shawn briley. two things i wouldn't be proud to spout off about. the kid is a social retard. can he charge? i sure hope so. he can't do anything else but surf.

hell, all those guys got no skills besides surfing. they can't even speak correctly.

yer right, sorry. i was just showing how ignorant i can get. in fact, i apologize to those guys in the raft. o'brien and healy, i know from only watching them with my own two eyes. i shouldn't judge from that.

kalani, on the other hand, i know fairly well. i watched him grow up, from before pubic hairs and shit. hunna butta days, if you will. he's a nice guy, really. i think it's the testosterone, maybe. agressive is a mild way to put it.

i shouldn't stoop to racism, but i guess that's a part of me i can't completely erase. sorry. i try to keep the demons in check. they all too often resurface. methinks this is part of losing "it" as you get older. alzheimers runs in the family, and i do believe i've helped it along.
