Laird Hamilton

Biography
Born March 2, 1964 in San Francisco and raised on the North Shore of Hawaii, Hamilton is considered the top big wave rider in the world, and without doubt the most innovative. Step-son of 60s surfing legend, Bill Hamilton, Laird has been surfing in Hawaiian waters since he was a child and has mastered all aspects of the sport and its offshoots, including paddleboarding, wave-sailing, and tow surfing. Hamilton is known for surfing the monster waves, having been a pioneer of using jet skis to tow surfers into huge waves. Big wave accomplishments include the "Millennium" in Teahupoo, Tahiti in 2000 and "Jaws" in Maui in 2002.

Episode Description
Laird discusses growing up a victim of racism, his personal struggles with his father, and the challenge of being true to the sport of surfing.

I didn't see it, but my general feeling is "what an elitist a-hole."

I don't think he would approve of me towsurfing.

I heard it was a bitch-fest by Laird, complaining about everything, with himself as the center of his universe.

might try this out as a test for my new tivotogo option cause i gots to go to la pretty soon and need to entertain the brain on that flight...he was pretty good in that movie, the north shore...the pipeline layback shots of him rocked too...i bring it up cause we all gots to remember this is just tv...which means that they gotta make it exciting or at least entertaining by adding controversy, drama, or inflating reality quite a bit...what you'll probably see is just some inflated piece of him...it won't give us no hidden insights or nothing...we still won't really know him...he could be a hell of a nice guy...just like your typical joe neighbor with a wife and kid, etc...but no doubt with some true gifts :?
