Never knew the guy, but I've totally admired his photos.

OMG, no way. I met up Jon a couple times, we discussed me driving his brand new jetski he just got while he takes pictures of towing outer reefs, but it never ended up happening. I'm floored!

WHAT!? I saw him at rockys just a couple weeks ago. A couple weeks before that I chatted/saw him at my wife's friends wedding where he was the photog.

Incredible talent and too young. Unbelievable. Rest in Peace

Not good news. Sad as heck. Nice guy, spoke briefly at a show of his work at Kahala Mall at the art store there. You could sense the caring and love the guy had for his work. It sure did show in the artful interpertations of surf and surf photography he created.

Hug a loved one.

:(

Jon lives with his wife, Nikki and their four children in Mililani. When not shooting, Jon enjoys surfing, skateboarding, foosball, coaching kids soccer as well as just spending time with family and friends. Jon is a people person who especially loves kids as you'll find him happiest when he's surrounded by them.

By far - this has got to be the saddest part - God Bless the family.

damn this story just totally eats me up.
how can a guy get killed with that much experience. ???
and he survived a shark attack too.
luckily he got to go doing what he loved the most.
he was just swimming out there for a couple of shots, you really never know when your gonna go, incidents like these are so sad but also opens your eyes to how precious life is.

RIP, be safe out there guys.
