O.K..I know it's been out forever, but I went to the Dollar show at Restaraunt Row last night. I really enjoyed it. Except for the commentator saying "Why-a-mee-ah" and "Peee-aah-hee".
Pretty cool footage and interviews, esp. Gregg Noll. What a character!
The wipe-out footage had us all cringing. It's amazing those early Bay riders weren't all drowned.
Anyway, don't know how much longer it'll be at the Row, but it's worth a buck, for sure.

that movie was the bomb !!! a definate must see for the Oahu surfer.
the history of big wave surfing with footage that is mind blowing.
JOse Angel jumping off the tail of his board and doing backflips at 20 foot plus Waimea, looks like the guy had a death wish.
The story behind Makaha, Mavericks, Waimea and Jaws.
Even if you not intrested in rushing big waves, the info and knowledge shared in this flick is invaluable. I was captivated.
HB you think it was better than Blue Horizon? , I'd say so from a soul surfing realistic approach to surfing, those guys did what they did and do what they do for the love of the ocean

Yah..I enjoyed it more than B.H..Although some of the footage in B.H was better, the story behind these places and people was really interesting.
Gregg Noll was totally cracking me up.
All those guys..totally hellman.
Surfing Mavs alone for years...Nuts!!
Being the 1st haole to surf Waimea..nuts!!
Towing into 50 foot Peahi...Nuts!
Nuts I say!!..But DAMN entertaining...

Finally got a chance to see the movie. Took my wife and daughter in last night. Only dollar per person at Restaurand Row. Daughter slept with her pillow. Wifey actually liked the show, but of course it seeded the fear in her... again. I loved it too. One really subtle thing I enjoyed was the 3D stills of various waves--cool effect.
Line of the movie: Greg Noll describing the aura of the Bay before they finally went out and surfed the place, "We believed there would be a vortex out there like some big toilet that would flush all the haoles that season underwater." (or something like that)
Second best line: Towards the end of the credits, Bill Hamilton was asked why Laird is so brave, "It's because of the third testicle we attached at birth."
