Honolulu Highway Carnage

Postby red » Sun Jun 18, 2006 4:09 pm

Lots of sick accidents a coupla days ago. Some Jap tour van smashed off my mirror a coupla days ago, but I'm so freaked out by high insurance rates I 're-installed' it myself. Her door didn't look so good, though.

Anyway, when's the last time you guys were in a smashy?

Some young guys rear ended me last year. Dented my fender a bit and crumpled my licence plate. when I got out to check the damage they drove off. I got their plate and make of the car and called the cops. Cop said nothing they can do. I couldn't ID the fukkers so can't prosecute.

Then he gave me a ticket for having an expired saftey inspection. :?

I have never been at fault in a collision.

I snagged my driver's side rear view mirror on a column backing out of a underground parking space at Al Mo couple months ago. Chipped a small piece off.

Back around 1980 when I was 17, a 10yo kid took his dad's Caddy out for a joyride, making a right turn in my direction without looking or stopping he pulled out in front of me just as I went by. I couldn't avoid him and clipped the front. Hardly a few dent/scratches on the tank but my brand new used Nissan (or was it DATSUN still?) pickup front end was crushed. this was about a mile before reaching my surfy at Makaha that morning. The board in the bed was damaged too.

Couple years ago this kid in his daddy's escalade hit my wife's brand new car and drove off. She got the license number and the cops told her the same thing, they couldn't do anything. We called the insurance company and they were able to get all damages paid for by the kid's dad. This was after we searched around for a couple weeks and found the car parked in a garage a few blocks from the accident.

Working in waikiki, sometimes the hotel gets big events and shit, so the worker bees cant park in the hotels garage for the $2.00 for 10 hours rate. So they let you park at another corporation owned lot for $5 bucks. Anyway, I am just the opposite of HB and Uncle. After work, I am pulling out of the garage, and I head home. I had noticed 3 or 4 young pups in the garage, gathering to go to some uber-cool mega club, I guess.

So I get home have a number of beers, and go to bed. At 2AM, the HPD calls, asking if I was in an accident. No. Why? You sure? Yes. There are witness' that say you were. No, I wasnt. Did you park in waikiki tonight? Yes. I work at - - - - - . Do you mind if we send a officer to check out the car? Go right ahead.

Magarret couldnt have gotten here faster. 4 fricking officers to look at nothing then they ask if I have been drinking. Hell yes, I am at home!!! Do you mind if we take photos? Of what? There is no damage on the truck! Soo they take photos, I have to write a statement, and I GET A TICKET for leaving the scene.

How I left a scene I was never in, is beyond me.

Long story longer -

So I go to court, not once, twice, but THREE frikking times. Because the officers were sick, the complintant was out of town, etc. FINALLY i get to court, I have my recipts, pix, and no damage crap from my insurance (who of course, let me defend myself) All to have some ignorant 20 someting and his girlfriend say they just went by what the people in the garage told them, and had no idea who really hit their car.

Morons.
