I second LG, I've been to Indo 5 times, its worth the trip, especially if its your first time Bali will leave you stoked. Like he said you arrive in Bali, and the waves are at your doorstep. Foods' pretty good and the nightlife :D :D :D just be careful you dont get too drunk and end up with a shim (lady-boy) LOL.

I always go JAL or SING. Even coach seats are comfortable, not the best but quite comfortable. And your lucky cause you get to fly out of HI, flight time should only be I figure about 10-12 hours? when I go I fly first from Puerto Rico to New York 4 AM @ 4 hours, then hour and a half in the airport, next New York to Tokyo leaving around 9AM arriving at 9pm direct flight 18 hours in the air kinda cool though cause you get to see the sunset twice. Stay overnight in hotel that has deal with airline, then next day Tokyo to Jakarta leaving at 8 am 8 hours flying, plane lands in Jakarta they make you get off the plane "while they clean it", just an excuse to make us get off the plane to shop in the airport...then Jakarta to Denpasar,Bali 3 1/2 hours arriving around 8pm, 45 mins to get your luggage and arrange transport 15-20 mins to hotel----wanna sleep but so wired up you end up walking around the clubs and partying until 2am finally exhausted head to hotel sleep wake up for dawn patrol....Enjoy!!!

blah,

kuta or uluwatu surf might not be ideal in your time window, although like here there's always surf somewhere...the closer you can get to our summer, like june, should give you better chance of getting good surf...i used to fly garuda which had a cheap direct non-stop flight to bali from honolulu and they were generous with a big board bag limit...but unfortunately they discontinued this flight which was always full for some reason...i thought sing also discontd flights from hnl 2...south china airlines is usually cheap and decent but you have to do an overnight in taipei (which is included in the cost of the flight) then straight to bali...lately i've just been using my continental miles to get me a ticket to bali...i think last year it cost me like 60K miles...continental takes you to guam and you have a short layover before taking a direct flight from guam to bali...but there's also lots of packets like the guys have been saying
